Yes, the institute is too rigorous about the results, just to make sure not all get to clear the exams and only the eligible survive.
Can you draw the pros and cons of a ICWA? do you think ICWA has good scope for a practice?
CA’s going out of their profession is by their nature and not by force. infact that applies to every profession as well. I have seen instances where doctors carrying their profession as a call center executives!
THERES NO EXEMPTION FROM TRAINING IN CS…
a cs student has to do training for 15 months to get membership doesnt matter if he wishes to go for a job or practise….!!!
moreover d exemptions are not that simple..u need to have worked as a lawyer for at least 3 years to get d exemption..nd i dnt think many people have that advantage….!!
and as far as course content is concerned cwa and cs have an equally tough course..d only diffrnce being in the training period.
EXEMPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE
1) I again had a relook at the provisions of ICSI – and the LCS thing is still there. So for job an LCS does not need to have passed the practical training – and instead directly work in the secretarial dept of any company – and later on claim exemption based on his work experience – so he would not waste even a month in ‘training’ as part of course!
http://www.icsi.edu/Member/Enrolmentasalicentiate/tabid/1798/Default.aspx
http://www.icsi.edu/webmodules/student/Licentiate.pdf
And moreover a student can pursue the CS course while doing job – thereby earning proper salary (vis-a-vis meagre stipend) and also getting the ‘experience’ – so in a way the CS student wins in three ways compared to a CA student.
a) Work experience
b) Proper salary
c) Exemption from training – whether on the basis of job prior to or during the course or even after passing the course!
2) The point is that in CA, the three years training is NOT exempted under ANY circumstances (except with certain countries with which it has MoU for members of those accounting bodies). Infact, recently ICAI came out with a scheme with regards to giving CA qualification to IAAS officers – and you can read about it at:
http://indiapoint.net/ca/2008/10/31/articleship-certain-rules/comment-page-2/#comment-253
3) Articleship training is NOT considered as Job experience – which is the worst part. In contrast – the CS and CWA DOES provide for exemption for the practical training who have work experience in relevant areas even to NON Lawyers and NON CAs – so at least what they have worked would be part of ‘experience’ when they apply anywhere.

I have seen CA students who have completed articleship training and applying for job, getting rejected in interviews for ordinary posts of accountants requiring BCom qualification with even 1 year job experience – as their articleship period is NOT job experience, but part of course work!
CS and CWA can be done with the relevant job – its not difficult to find companies with paid up capital of 25 lakhs for jobs – infact ordinary two wheeler dealerships with company status have more of paid capital!
In CA there is no such option of exemption nor counting of articleship as any experience, and articleship completed students start with ‘zero’ work experience – even though during their training – as agents of their Principal – they may have ‘examined’ accounts and applied all sorts of accounting and audit standards.
So, basically what I have written in the article relating to CS stands.
thanx a lot sir. need an advice…what are other courses a cs student can pursue to add to his profile? i know that LLB is good…but what other options has a cs student got?
Isn’t it good to pursue one thing properly and excel in that?
Its good thats why i’m doing it properly…But the cs demands a very good knowledge of financial aspects too….”Its something I have learned after interaction with cs’s and trainees…Thats why the question….Thnx for the reply..
Good knowledge of financial aspects is important – but not ‘that’ important for the CS – because in the end its the auditors who would certify the accounts. And perhaps, the way these courses overlap, for one who is pursuing the CS – s/he should focus more on the legislation and secretarial aspects – and just be good enough with accounts as to pass the exams!
And anyway – to be a good CS, you dont need any other qualification – unless if you after doing CS want to work in BPO kind of thing!
I would say – that you need to improve your english writing skills. You have been using SMS language (and I had to keep editing to make it proper english). i nly hpe u dnt frgt d prpr en’lsh s dat is imp fr xams
If that had been the way half of the world will have to improve its english language skills.I was using it just to save time. And sir I know it very well that I just can’t afford to use this language in my exams.
Thanx a lot sir.
Have a nice time ahead.Good bye.
dear sir/madam,
if the principal makes more absenttee than the actual in the article training period. what should a article can do? can he challenge this ? and how ? as absents are marked in the principal register..
Plz repost the query at:

http://indiapoint.net/ca/2006/02/27/articleship/#toc-10-articleship-under-whom
Dear sir, at the moment I am pursuing IPCC. i wanted to know how much marks should be scored at least in order to get selected in BIG FOUR. Secondly please tell about the vacancies offered by them. Can a student after clearing first group also get selected in BIG FOURs
Plz read:

Also read previous comments to related articles. Much have been discussed on such issue.
Also, marks is not the only criteria on which selection happens. Good marks helps but only upto a point.
I disagree with what is written above. if one studies well and written well than no one is going to fail you….though some points are true like course is vast and it changes frquently but its necessary to keep you updated……
CAs are simply great even there are lots of hurdles. Woh manzil hi kya jo asan ho, woh lahar hi kya jo sthir ho. sathi tum himmat mat harna woh parwana hi kya jo dewana na ho. try try hard u will get the sucess.
Quite true & well said. Plz read: http://indiapoint.net/ca/2010/07/30/motivation-for-success-in-ca-exams-cases-of-real-cas/
