WordPress has been one of the best web hosting script. It is everything to everyone – for those who use it. A blogging script, a CMS, an extendible website utility.
This site had been running WPMU script since its inception. However, in the new WordPress version 3.0, the main WordPress and WPMU (WordPress Multiuser) have been merged.
Initially, I was quite sceptical on updating the site from WPMU to WordPress Ver 3.0 However, after taking a site backup, I decided, that I am going to update the website to WordPress Ver 3.0
And I must say that the one click upgrade was pretty smooth and clean. There were only three notifications –
(1) that one of the file relating to WPMU was deprecated wp-content/blogs.php.
(2) And another was that in the .htaccess file that file name needed to be changed. wp-content/blogs.php to wp-includes/ms-files.php
(3) A code had to be added to the file wp-config.php
And all that was pretty fine. Now the site is on WordPress 3.0, and I have checked the plugins that were installed – and they seem to be working fine.
Also, I must say, the new WordPress 3.0 seems to load pretty faster than its previous versions.
And the sense of adventure with WordPress is such, that this time, it was the first time, that I updated the wordpress on the very first day of release of the new version. That speaks quite a lot for the beta testing and the quality of wordpress.
For WordPress this is a milestone. This version of WordPress is named Thelonious – which is in line with the past where different versions of WordPress had been named after famous musicians.

Ahhh, thanks so much!
I couldn’t figure out why my images weren’t showing for some posts and it was because I had missed the message about changing the blogs.php file to wp-includes/ms-files.php in .htaccess
I’m so happy you posted about it here! thanks
