Rajasthani Culture cum Food Festival at Jabalpur

We went to Hotel Jabali Palace – which is on suburbs of Jabalpur – it is currently hosting Rajasthani Culture-cum-Food Festival

Its perhaps a lean season sales push – but quite good for the people at Jabalpur to go on an outing on summer evening – upto June 21. It includes:

Cultural dances – which were quite good.

Puppet Dance – very enjoyable, but of short duration. Perhaps more items could have been added to it.

Magic Show – this was amazing. Couldn’t figure out the sleight of hand even when the magician was showing his skills just in front. Fine street magic.

Camel Ride – we enjoyed it. Particularly my daughter enjoyed it very much.

Bullock Cart Ride – was good – particularly for children, who might now-a-days see such carts very rarely on streets.

Rope Artists – Was good. But then small children doing such dangerous things on ropes – doesn’t seem good to conscious.

The Food – very good traditional Rajasthani food. It came with all trappings with the people speaking the Rajasthani local dialects and also the entertainment (I couldn’t figure out the name of player that was being played by the person – more like mix of tanpura and sarod!)

The Rajasthani troupe is from Tonk district and seemed friendly and energetic.

Along with the Rajasthani fare, the Hotel has also pushed local businesses with it and passed it as part of Rajasthani festival eg. there were kiosks selling cloths for ladies and astrologer, and chat stall – all these were locals of Jabalpur!

The entry fees is weekdays Rs. 175 per adult, and on Saturdays and Sundays Rs. 200 per adult. Tickets are half rate for children above five.

Overall a good show – perhaps other hotels / clubs could emulate such thing later bringing troupes from other parts of the country. The real thing is better than Television or Posters.
